For a diagnostic test to be useful, it is necessary to determine the probability that the test will provide the correct diagnosis. In a paper published in the Journal of Endodontics E. Villa-Chávez et al determined that the highest accuracy (0.94) and reproducibility (0.88) were observed for the cold test.
