Influence of Demographics on Patients’ Receipt of Endodontic Therapy or Implant Placement – Updated

Reese et al found that demographic attributes and insurance status significantly affect the patient’s choice between root canal treatment or implant placement. Our short survey found that close to 60% of the dentists who responded felt that their patients were also affected by demographic attributes and insurance status when deciding between root canal therapy and implant placement.

A paper by Azarpazhooh et al and published in the December 2013 issue of The Journal of Endodontics investigated the preference of patients in Toronto, Canada for management of a tooth affected by painful apical periodontitis.
